And Now, a Word From Our Statistician...

Resident numbers-guy Keith breaks it down for us on why, despite our current, um losing streak, we are nonetheless in for a winning season.

Fact: The 4 teams we've played had a combined 8-3-1 (73% W-L) record
through their first 3 games. (Even if you took out our record against
them, they'd have a combined 5-2-1 (71% W-L) record.)
Fact: The next 5 teams we play had a combined 3-11-1 (21% W-L) record
through their first 3 games.
Prediction: I'm figuring we'll keep getting the same great turnout
we've gotten over the last three games, so I'm predicting we finish
with a winning record, 5-4 or even 6-3.

Bounced-Out by Fun Balls

Sorry, couldn't think of a better play on HFB.

We played HFB and lost. But it was a good game and I felt that we played really well. And HFB are good peeps so it's impossible to feel bad about losing to people who you like so much (well, for me anyway). They also beat us at flip cup. Man, we need some practice. Flip cup practice that is. More later. I'm especially intruiged to see how Keith's new theory that we're in for a winning season is going to play out. Special shout-out today goes to the girls from Shock and Awe, who are shockingly awesome.

A brief Interlude...

Happy hour tonight at Stetson's--U and 16th Streets NW. I have received some comments that Stetson's is not metro-friendly. To this I say pish posh. Stetson's is in pleasant ambling distance from both the Dupont Circle metro and its cousin the U street metro. The fun starts around 6.

Gosh, the Wackos are Good...

Admittedly, we are a bit late to the whole kickball website thing and not quite tech-savvy or motivated enough to actually have a kickball website. But, we can blog so blog we will. Below is our interpretation of what happened to us during game 3 of our season against the formidable Wackos. I can't remember the score.

Guys, gosh I am so sorry. What can I say? I had a good time with you all last weekend. It had been a while since we hooked up and it’s always nice to revisit past indiscretions just for “old times” sake, maybe even to remind yourself why you shouldn’t go there anymore. In the case of our most recent dalliance the reasons why it could not go on became abundantly clear just moments after it occurred. Of course I was flattered when you told all of your friends at the bar about us, but how about some discretion, you know for privacy’s sake? I would have preferred to keep things a little DL, and there you were high-fiving with all of your buddies, like a bunch of recently deflowered boys on prom night. It was embarrassing, you know? The next morning I had basically blocked the situation out. Sure, my friends where emailing me about it like mad, but I told them I just wanted to forget about it. But you were incorrigible. The streams of text messages (with the annoying abbreviations); the phone calls; the emails (with emoticons, ugh); the frickin’ flowers?!? Enough is enough, Team Runs with Scissors. I need my space. You have tons of wonderful qualities, you must know that. There are plenty of other avatars of competition that would love to hang out with you (I know that my sister Defeat has a little crush on you, but she’s kind of a downer, I know). But for now, I must cut these ties and bid a fond farewell. I will always have a soft spot for you. You’re scrappy and loud full of heart. You don’t take anything for granted and I respect that. Perhaps we can try again in a few weeks after you’ve chilled out a bit.

Until then I remain affectionately yours,

GV
